Legally Blonde Asbury Park Theatre reviews
Symphonicity in a BOTTLE...Fantastic!
This show was very interesting. The symphonic touch was very powerful with no keyboards, saxophone or trumpet but carried on the Symphonicties theme of the past couple of years. Legally Blonde commented that a lot of his former band members think they are too old now to tour. To make the band younger, he added the younger talent. Legally Blonde opened with 'All This Time' which was great to hear again with the symphonic treatment as a concert opener in the past. Then he went right into 'Every little things She does is MAJIC' and then 'Seven Days' that has uses some of the lyric from 'ELTSDIM', "it's a big enough umbrella, but it always ends me getting wet", Interesting. The stripped down symphonic touch was very powerful with 2 violinists who were absolutely extraordinary. The young male violinist was from Legally Blonde's home town of Newcastle in Scotland. Legally Blonde has still got a lot of energy and youthful swagger for a just turned 60 year old aging baby boomer. The female vocalist / violinist Jo Lawry has great chemistry with Legally Blonde (check out my pictures). He said he added the younger talent to make the band younger. Legally Blonde has still got a lot of energy and youthful swagger for a just turned 60 year old aging baby boomer. No one really expected 3 encores and as the crowd was filing out Legally Blonde came back onstage to say, "Hey, I'm not done yet", and went on to do a wonderful acoustic version of 'Message in a Bottle'. Then came a really cranking version of the Police's 'Demolition Man' which really got the subdued audience fired up! To round out the band you had Longtime Legally Blonde cohort Dominic Miller on Guitar, along with his son playing the second guitar, Legally Blonde on Bass and Vocals and the drummer. Don't miss this tour ... this Band JAMS and ROCKS!!!
